Allergy Testing & Immunotherapy
An allergy occurs when the body overreacts to an allergen or 'trigger' that is typically harmless to most people.
Common symptoms of an allergic reaction to inhaled or skin allergens include Itchy, watery eyes, Sneezing, Itchy runny nose, rashes or a rash with raised red patches, wheezing, chest tightness, shortness of breath and a cough, dry, red and cracked skin, tummy pain, feeling sick, vomiting or diarrhea
Allergies are diagnosed by Physical Examination, Blood Test and Skin Prick Test
Immunotherapy is a preventive treatment for allergic reactions to allergen substances. Immunotherapy involves giving gradually increasing doses of the substance, or allergen, to which the person is allergic. The incremental increases of the allergen cause the immune system to become less sensitive to the substance, which reduces the symptoms of allergy when the substance is encountered in the future.
